Koketso Moeti founded amandla.mobi in 2014 after using her own cellphone to help organize her community in Rooigrond, South Africa against evictions, and recognizing that similarly affected communities needed accessible digital tools to organize collectively. The organization has since grown into a movement of hundreds of thousands of members who take coordinated action on issues from gender violence to corporate accountability, with a particular focus on low-income Black women. She is an inaugural Obama Foundation Fellow and continues to serve as amandla.mobi’s Founding Executive Director.
