MIAMI, FL — April 21, 2021 — The Elevate Prize Foundation is pleased to announce their recognition of comedian, host and humanitarian Trevor Noah as the inaugural winner of the Catalyst Award. The Foundation’s newly created Catalyst Award recognizes individuals who use their voice and influence to elevate social consciousness and inspire others to do good.
In its first award, the Foundation honors Noah for consistently leveraging his influential platform to spread awareness and mobilize masses around some of the most pressing issues of our time. The Elevate Prize Foundation will provide the Trevor Noah Foundation with $250,000 in funding to advance their work in education. The Trevor Noah Foundation seeks to foster enabled learning and teaching environments in South African schools while empowering teachers to be innovative leaders and problem solvers in their classrooms and communities.
“Today, Trevor Noah is an icon of social commentary in the U.S. and one of the most important voices in contemporary media. He shares a unique perspective and platform that highlights our shared humanity and brings greater awareness to the important issues of our time, inspiring social action,” said Carolina García Jayaram, executive director, Elevate Prize Foundation. “The challenges of the past few years have revealed the power of social and media platforms, and the importance of using fame for good. As we strive to ‘make good famous’ ourselves by supporting and amplifying the work of social entrepreneurs globally, we look to leaders like Trevor Noah, who are using their platform to do just that. We are honored and excited to have Trevor as the first recipient of the Catalyst Award, and look forward to partnering with the Trevor Noah Foundation to achieve greater impact in their work.”
“I am honoured to be receiving the inaugural Catalyst Award from the Elevate Prize Foundation. Their commitment to social good is something I admire and strive for every day, both in my personal life and for my Foundation,” said Trevor Noah. “I am excited for our partnership and hope we can continue their mission to ‘make good famous’ together.”
“Once again, we celebrate Trevor for inspiring youth around the world to ‘do good,’ blazing a trail wherever he goes,” said Shalane Yuen, executive director, the Trevor Noah Foundation. “The Trevor Noah Foundation, too, shares a passion for supporting and amplifying the next generation of changemakers. This shared value is why we’re so excited to partner with the Elevate Prize Foundation in achieving our goals of inclusive and equitable access to good education.”
About the Elevate Prize Foundation
